Juma Pun is a 30-year-old mother of two children and is originally from the Rukum District in the Far Western Region of Nepal.
Juma’s husband was tragically killed several years ago when he fell into a river while at work.
Since her husband’s accident, Juma has had to provide for her two children on her own.
Three years ago she contracted leprosy which made it almost impossible for her to find work.
At the time that she contracted the disease she had no knowledge of leprosy and so she sought treatment from her local witch doctor.
She spent all of her money and sacrificed all of her chickens as part of the witch doctor’s treatments, however none of the treatments worked.
Eventually she decided to go along to a government hospital where they diagnosed her with leprosy and referred her on for treatment at INF’s Green Pastures Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre for people with disabilities in Pokhara.
For the past three months Juma has been treated free of charge by INF.
She is recovering well and is very happy to be at INF’s Green Pastures Hospital.
