INF’s Banke District health and development programme office in Nepalgunj is today without electricity, telephone contact and road access as a result of severe floods which have affected southern and western Nepal, according to reports from Dhaka Ram Budha Magar, the Co-ordinator of INF’s Security Resource Team. Eleven people have been killed in the floods and associated landslides. The Kathmandu Post newspaper correspondent in Nepalgunj reports that around 100 families in Banke District have been displaced, while most areas in and around the town are waterlogged due to heavy rain.
