Dhulikhel Medical Institute [DMI] yesterday said farewell to INF physiotherapist Gillian Coates. Gillian has helped DMI create a certificate-level physiotherapy course, the first in Nepal. The course is now run by four Nepali tutors and one remaining expatriate. Well-wishers including Dhulikhel Hospital’s Medical Director Dr Ram Shrestha and DMI Director Dr Rajendra Khoju emphasised Gillian’s passion, commitment and persistance, while Gillian recalled her pride when the first physiotherapy students graduated. Gillian is now seconded by INF to work at a stroke rehabilitation centre run by local partner Brain Foundation Nepal.
