Yesterday was World AIDS Day, which is marked each year around the world on 1 December to raise awareness of HIV / AIDS. Based in Pokhara, INF’s ‘Paluwa’ programme provides care and support for Nepali people living with HIV / AIDS. Together with partner organisations, Paluwa [meaning ‘New life’] raises awareness of HIV / AIDS among groups of people who are at high risk of contracting HIV, and also among local communities. Paluwa also provides voluntary counselling and testing, basic clinical and palliative care, and socio-economic assistance for HIV+ people.
