Yesterday was International Disability Day, which is marked around the world each year to raise awareness of disability issues. Serving Nepali people with disabilities has been one of INF's priorities for many years, and the work of INF projects such as Green Pastures Hospital in Pokhara is well-known among many international disability specialists. However, INF does not only provide care and rehabilitation services for people with disabilities - INF's community based rehabilitation work plays a key role in enabling people with disabilities to enjoy the rights and benefits which are theirs according to Nepal government policies, rights and benefits which compare favourably with those available in some other south Asian countries. As well as helping individuals with disabilities, INF works with regional and national disability networks and provides disability training for local partner organisations. Prakash Wagle, INF's Community Based Rehabilitation Adviser, and Bishnu Giri, Manager of INF's Partnership For Rehabilitation, recently attended an Asia Pacific regional conference to share their experiences in Nepal and learn from practitioners in other countries.
