First upper limb prosthesis
03 Dec 08
Last month Nepal’s first upper limb prosthesis was produced and fitted by staff at INF’s Green Pastures Hospital in Pokhara.
The staff were recently trained in upper limb prosthesis in Cambodia, after funding from the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The client receiving the prosthesis was Suman KC, 25, who lost her right forearm after a road accident.
‘Suman is very happy to have a normal-looking hand,’ says Green Pastures Superintendent Sandra Boone. ‘Her increased confidence will allow her to move forward with her studies to become a lawyer.’
