INF helps Daya to walk
25 Feb 08
Daya Kandel, 70, suffers from leprosy and has anæsthetic feet.
When he arrived at INF’s Green Pastures Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre in Pokhara, Daya had a deep ulcer covering much of the weight-bearing sole of one foot.
In order to avoid amputation, INF’s Dr Sarah Tucker performed a flap operation to cover the ulcer, enabling Daya to start walking again. ‘When we’re confident that all is well, Daya can return home,’ says Green Pastures’ Medical Superintendent Dr Iain Craighead.
