INF helps Devi
18 Mar 08
Devi Rana was 3 years old when INF field staff first met her in Nepal’s remote, mountainous Jumla District.
When she arrived at the INF Nutrition Referral Centre in Jumla Devi weighed only 6.4 kilos, and she could not walk or speak and hardly acknowledged anybody.
She was severely malnourished.
Devi stayed for five weeks in the INF Centre, put on 3.4 kilos in weight, and started to talk and walk.
After leaving the Centre, INF staff made monthly follow-up visits to encourage Devi’s family and check on her progress.
