Kishan, 29, was working in Delhi in India when he was hit by a vehicle and run over by a truck, injuring his spine and leaving him paralysed from the waist down.
In the days and weeks that followed he was moved from one hospital to another in India. He needed complicated treatment and rehabilitation, which can cost a lot of money. Unable to pay, Kishan had to be returned to his home in Rupandehi in Nepal, accompanied by his mother.
Eventually he was referred to INF's Green Pastures Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre in Pokhara by a doctor who thought that Kishan might be eligible for free treatment there. An ambulance took Kishan to Green Pastures. Although he arrived at midnight he was assessed and admitted immediately by the nurse on duty.
Since his admission as an inpatient at Green Pastures a few months ago, Kishan has had surgery for a very bad bedsore which he developed after months of lying in bed. The INF doctors are committed to treating him and Kishan is positive and hopeful. The hospital staff have assured him that he will be trained to use a wheelchair so that he can move around.
