Meena Chaudhary, 30, had to have one of her legs amputated after she was injured while doing farming work.
'I thought nobody loved me because I was a burden to everyone,' says Meena.
'I became very depressed and didn't want to go on living. I used a stick as a crutch and felt very envious when I saw my friends playing, running, walking, working and studying. A couple of years ago I met a man who had also lost a leg. He understood how I felt and I fell in love with him. Although my parents were against the idea, I went ahead and married him. My husband told me I should go to INF's Green Pastures Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre for people with disabilities in Pokhara, to see if they could help me. I was concerned that we wouldn't be able to pay for treatment, as I didn't want to get my family into debt. To my amazement, INF gave me an artificial leg and taught me how to walk with it. I met people with similar disabilities at Green Pastures and felt hopeful again. Now I'm able to contribute to my family's work.
'I can't describe the joy I feel. Thanks to Green Pastures I'm a new person. If it wasn't for this hospital, I can't imagine how my life would be. INF has given me new hope and I am so thankful to the people who work at Green Pastures.'
