Hari, 11, is from a remote area of western Nepal. When looking for herbs in the forest for his family he was bitten in the leg by a poisonous snake. Villagers heard his cries and rushed him home, however the poison had begun to take effect. His parents took him to the local hospital and were advised to take him to a hospital in Nepalgunj. They took out a bank loan to pay for Hari's treatment. In Nepalgunj doctors prescribed medicine to halt the poison. However, after a couple of days the family's money ran out, which meant that Hari was unable to stay any longer in hospital. His parents wept, not knowing what to do. However, they happened to meet someone from INF who told them about INF's Green Pastures Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre in Pokhara. Hari's father contacted Green Pastures, and staff there said they would accept Hari as an inpatient. At Green Pastures, Hari has been cared for and has had his wounds cleaned to prevent further infection. Hari will need a new artificial leg, and doctors at Green Pastures will fit it for him once his wounds have healed, which could take two months. Hari is looking forward to receiving his new leg - in the meantime he gets around the hospital in his INF wheelchair.
