Chet Prasad is the new peer counsellor at INF's Green Pastures Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre for people with disabilities in Pokhara. Chet broke his spine when he fell from a tree while collecting fruit and was referred to Green Pastures for rehabilitation. Six years ago Chet was inspired to travel in his wheelchair from the far eastern border of Nepal to the far western border of the country, in order to show what people with disabilities are capable of, and to call for peace in Nepal - at that time the ten-year-long 'People's War' was still going on. The journey took him thirty days, and he covered a distance of 1,028 kilometres. 'Chet also recently played in the finals of Nepal's national wheelchair basketball competition,' says Green Pastures Superintendent Dr Paul Roche. 'We are delighted that he is a member of the team at Green Pastures,' adds Paul.
