Nepal’s ‘first’ Christmas
24 Dec 08
Christmas Day will be celebrated as a public holiday for the first time tomorrow in Nepal.
As part of the new Maoist-led coalition government’s move to establish the country as a secular state rather than a Hindu kingdom, festivals of various religions are being marked as additional public holidays for the first time. As in previous years, many churches throughout the country will be holding special Christmas services, and many thousands of Nepali Christians are expected to attend. A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you from INF!
