Yesterday was the first day of the Nepali New Year.
According to the traditional Nepali calendar, it is now the year 2067, rather than AD 2010.
Many Nepali people will be hoping for increased political stability in the country, and economic progress. Nepal's new constitution is due to be completed by 28 May, though there are reports of a possible six-month delay in the process.
Yesterday was also the first of forty special days of prayer for Nepal by Christians around the world, culminating in a special global day of prayer for the country on 23 May. Please click here for more information about the forty days of prayer for Nepal.
