The new building

A new Outpatients Department building is under construction at INF's Green Pastures Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre for people with disabilities in Pokhara. Funding for the project has been generously provided by the Finnish Christian Medical Society, who have also helped to refurbish the Green Pastures laboratory and provide equipment, training and assistance with maintenance. The new building will replace the existing outpatients department which is small and wheelchair-unfriendly with narrow corridors and small toilets. Construction began on 11 February and is expected to take ten months. The existing outpatients department building will continue to accommodate Green Pastures' Social Care Unit and may possibly be adapted to include a lounge area for patients. Structural design for the new building was carried out by a local engineering company with input from a number of INF personnel, including Mark Dowle of INF New Zealand.
