INF's contribution to the statistical 'elimination' of leprosy as a public health problem in Nepal has been formally acknowledged by the government of Nepal. The Leprosy Control Division of the Ministry of Health and Population's Department of Health Services last week presented INF with certificates of acknowledgement for INF's support in Nepal's national leprosy elimination programme. INF's programmes in Nepal's Kaski, Surkhet and Dang Districts were each presented with certificates signed by the Department of Health Services Director General Dr Y. V. Pradhan and the Leprosy Control Division Director Dr G. D. Thakur. The certificates were presented to INF representatives including INF Kaski District Programme Manager Himalaya Sigdel and INF Technical Support Assistant Shailesh Pandit at a special event at which the government announced a new five-year 2011-2015 leprosy strategy. Complete eradication of leprosy in Nepal has yet to be achieved. Please click here if you would like to help INF help people affected by leprosy and other disabling conditions.
