Today is International Women's Day, a special event which is marked each year around the world in order to raise awareness of women's issues. The latest United Nations Human Development Index reports that levels of gender inequality in Nepal remain high. Women in Nepal often have little opportunity for formal education. As part of INF's community development work, INF facilitates women's self-help groups in different districts in Nepal, helping them to identify local problems and draw up and implement action plans to solve the problems, while accessing local resources. Levels of maternal mortality also remain high in Nepal. In order to reduce the number of deaths in child birth, INF helps with training for gynæcological and obstetric health services in different districts around the country.
