INF UK Member Dr Val Inchley was yesterday awarded for her research into Nepali proverbs.
Val was presented with an award by the Chief Justice of Nepal at Nepal's first international Nepali-language literary conference, held in Kathmandu by the 'Trimurti Niketan' organisation to mark the centenary of the birth of Laxmi Prasad Devkota, one of Nepal's greatest poets.
Val's research is entitled 'An analytical and comparative study of Nepali proverbs analysed, classified and compared with English proverbs'. It is due to be adapted and published by Nepali publisher Ekta Books with the new title 'Sitting at home dreaming of Nepal'. Val has previously been awarded the 'OBE' in the UK honours list for her outstanding service in Nepal over many years. She is a prolific writer and, among other titles, has published 'If I'd been born in Nepal' and 'Maps of Nepal' [the latter is currently out of print, though it is hoped that a new edition will be published].
Congratulations to Val from INF on this most recent award.
