Laxmi BK, 36, had to have a leg amputated after an ulcer became infected. She was referred to INF's Green Pastures Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre for people with disabilities in Pokhara, where she was provided with an artificial leg. From Green Pastures, Laxmi was referred to INF's Partnership For Rehabilitation in Pokhara, where she was able to take part in a micro-business creation training programme. With technical and financial support from INF, Laxmi has now set up a small fruit-selling business in her home community in Rupandehi. Now Laxmi is able to earn between 500 and 700 Nepali Rupees each day [US$6 - US$8]. This income enables Laxmi to support her family, pay off a loan and support the education of a children. Laxmi was helped with funds raised from the INF gift catalogue, where one of the 34 gifts is a 'Shop and training'. For just US$361 / €256 / £220 / AU$438 / NZ$538 you can help a person with disabilities like Laxmi to start a small shop. Please click here to browse the online INF gift catalogue.
