Eighteen years ago Pradip Pariyar had a serious fall that saw him unable to walk. He lives in Baglung with his family but the stigma of his disability caused tension within the family.

Pradip joined an INF Self-Help Group in his community and after meeting with INF staff members began physiotherapy treatment. He was also given assistive devices, which increased his mobility.

“After meeting with INF I have hope and self-confidence for the future,” said Pradip.

As a member of the group Pradip was also able to access a disability card and apply for a scholarship, which helped him complete his School Leaving Certificate. He is now training as a tailor and hopes to start his own tailoring business.

“I would like to thank INF for giving me hope and restoring my dreams once again.”

Self-Help Groups play a key role in INF’s Community Health and Development work across hundreds of communities in Western Nepal.
