Working as a teacher in Nepal for KISC [Kathmandu International Study Centre] has been the most amazing four years for me. I knew I always wanted to do overseas mission work and used to attend all the mission seminars and stalls at different conferences. One that stood out to me was a talk by people from INF about Nepal. They shared about their experience there and the stunning mountain photos got me interested in Nepal and led me to a three month stint in Pokhara helping at Green Pastures Hospital and eventually working at KISC in Kathmandu.

KISC is an International Christian School that was set up primarily to support the mission community over 30 years ago providing an education based on Biblical Values. As a teacher and a Christian I have loved working in an environment where the values taught are in line with my own and where teaching and talking with students about faith issues is highly valued.  Because it is a small school, a highlight for me has been able to connect with and impact students in a deep way through mentoring, mission trips, teaching and just being part of a close knit community. Seeing students grow in who they are and their relationship with God has been deeply rewarding and a great privilege.

Another part of my work that I have loved is being part of the wider KISC community. The parents of KISC students are involved in many different missions in Nepal ranging from trekking into remote mountain regions sharing the gospel and assisting in community development initiatives and human trafficking education, to training doctors and nurses in Nepali hospitals, to running children’s homes and ministering to the inner city homeless. It’s so inspiring to have been part of this community and seeing God’s love being shared with so many.

Over the last year it’s been on my heart to do more Bible and mission study with the hopes of returning to Christian service overseas again in the future. So in September of this year I will be heading to All Nations Christian College in the UK to study for a year, which I’m really looking forward to.

It has been incredible to serve in Nepal over the last four years, and while it’s difficult to leave such an amazing country and community, I’m excited for what’s next for me and know that God is doing good things in Nepal.
